Care across New Jersey

Make room for yourself within a full life.

Between work, family, and the needs of other people, arranging support for yourself can keep falling to the end of the list. You might be commuting, working from home, caring for a relative, or managing several roles at once. Therapy can offer time that is not organized around someone else’s demands.

Lorraine Richardson, LCSW, offers virtual psychotherapy throughout New Jersey, including Newark, Jersey City, Princeton, and Shore communities. You are not required to live near a practice office; sessions are online. Lorraine’s New Jersey license is #44SC06536300, and clients must be physically located in an authorized state at the time of care.

Feeling stretched does not always come with a clear label. You may notice a shorter temper, difficulty stepping away from work, or a growing distance from what used to feel meaningful. We can begin with those observations and explore what they mean in the context of your life.

The work, together

Work, caregiving, and loss can overlap

For professionals, therapy may focus on anticipatory anxiety, high expectations, and the way work occupies attention even during time off. We can examine habits and beliefs that keep you on alert while considering more realistic boundaries. There is room for both practical concerns and the feelings beneath them.

Caregivers may find themselves caught between devotion and exhaustion. Wanting a break does not erase the care you feel. Sessions can make space for guilt, resentment, role changes, and the challenge of asking for help when you are accustomed to being the dependable person.

Grief may be present within either of these experiences, or it may be the main reason you seek support. Lorraine offers a warm, nonjudgmental approach informed by mindfulness, CBT, and ACT. The work is collaborative, with your culture, relationships, and priorities shaping what we pay attention to.

Planning your care

Can I join a session from my New York workplace?

Please discuss that arrangement before scheduling. A New Jersey home address does not by itself authorize a session from another state. Lorraine is also licensed in New York, Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia; your actual location is confirmed so the session can be planned appropriately.

A free 15-minute phone consultation is a chance to ask questions and discuss fit without obligation. Private-pay and out-of-network therapy are available at $200 per session. Contact the practice about in-network availability and accepted plans. Superbills can be provided on request; an insurer, not the practice, determines any reimbursement.
