A private space in Connecticut

You do not need to have the right words before you start.

Seeking therapy can feel unfamiliar, especially if mental health was not something your family or community spoke about openly. You may be wondering how much to share, whether your concerns are serious enough, or what an online session would feel like. Those questions can be part of the first conversation.

Therapeutic Pathways provides telehealth for adults across Connecticut, from Fairfield County to New Haven, Hartford, and communities elsewhere in the state. Lorraine Richardson holds Connecticut license #16522. There is no Connecticut office to visit; the service is online, and your physical location is checked as part of the care process.

Privacy is an important practical consideration. Before starting, think about where you could speak without being overheard and whether your device and internet connection will support a video visit. If finding a private space is difficult, bring that up during the consultation rather than assuming online therapy cannot work for you.

The work, together

Therapy that respects your context

A full professional life can make it difficult to notice when pressure has become constant. You may be moving between deadlines, responsibilities at home, and the expectation that you will manage everything calmly. Sessions can help you explore anxiety, perfectionism, and the habits that leave little room for recovery.

Caregiving can bring a different set of pressures: coordinating care, worrying about a loved one, or feeling guilty whenever you turn toward your own needs. Therapy offers room to speak about the parts of that role that are hard to explain elsewhere, including sadness, frustration, and changing family relationships.

For grief and loss, the pace is not dictated by a set timeline. Lorraine works collaboratively with mindfulness, CBT, and ACT, while recognizing the importance of identity, culture, and lived experience. The focus is on understanding what you are carrying and developing workable responses, not on forcing a particular kind of progress.

About Lorraine and her approach

Planning your care

What happens during the first phone call?

The free 15-minute consultation is not a therapy session. It is a chance to describe what you are looking for, ask practical questions, and consider whether the practice feels appropriate. Lorraine will communicate with you before accepting an appointment request or creating your portal account; neither person is obligated to proceed.

Private-pay and out-of-network sessions are $200. Please ask about in-network insurance availability before assuming your plan is accepted. Superbills are available on request for possible reimbursement, which depends on your benefits. Fees, clinical suitability, and the secure intake process are discussed before you begin therapy.
